The water can be cold if you can stay out longer plus they help little bit when surfing rocks.

It keeps you warm, even in Cali water. When I surf I dont use a wetsuit, and I went in February twice this year, I REALLY wished I had a wetsuit.

A wetsuit can protect u from the shells and rough sand if u whipe out often like i do, or they can keep u warm in cold water!

The great reasons above and lyrca wetsuit would also protect you from sometimes lethal jellyfish stings as well.
