I love skimboarding, but I’m a 20 year old girl and I wonder if its too late to get into the contest scene. I would like to pick up a few sponsors (like small surf shops, etc, not big pro sponsors). I just want to get into the circuit, but I don’t think I’ll be ready to compete until Summer 09, and I’ll be 21, is that too old?

ive surfed a few times in hawaii and want to really get into the sport. I live in Victoria BC and would be surfing in tofino. I was just wondering if it is possible that ill be able to learn on a short board like 6 foot 5 or shorter. Im pretty in shape if that helps too.

I am going to be in Long Beach for a weekend at the end of the month and I would love to learn how to surf. I’d appreciate it if you could recommend a great Surf School near Long Beach.

Thanks.

I’m really interested in surfing and really eager to try it. My friend has offered to teach me to surf, but i think i’m gonna get a professional help. So here are my question

1) What basic thing should you learn (beside swimming) before going to surf (picking the board, basic movement, etc)?
2) Can you recommend a good surfing school in LA where they lend you a surf board (i don’t have any board yet)?
3) How long does it usually take to learn surfing basics?

Thank you :)

I am 5′7″ and 138 lbs.
I’ve been surfing for a while now, and I want to start the transition from a 9ft long board to a shorter board which I can improve on and get better. The thing is I am not to sure of what board to get. I am sticking with surfing and I want to start to learn tricks. Before I go to the surf shop I want to know what I should be asking about.
