I live in Rhode Island “the ocean state” and my house is right on the south coast of the state. I love to swim and am very comfortable in the water I probably won’t drown. There is a great surfing place near my house and in the summer, lots of people go there. I would like to learn to surf, this summer i am going to join a week long “surf camp” but I just wanted to know would it be easier for me than some others because I have experience skateboarding and snowboarding?

I was just wondering if anyone know some good surf shops that sell wetsuits for good prices near San Diego? I’m kinda short so I need a place that have a lot of sizes.

Also would it be okay to wear 3/2 mm full suits over the summer in San Diego or would it get too hot?

I’ve been wanting to learn how to surf for various years now. I’m super fascinated by the surf culture and just getting in touch with nature. I live in the heart of New York, more specifically Manhattan. None of my friends or family share the same desire to learn how to surf, so I pretty much alone on that. I was wondering where can I go to learn, and maybe make some friends in the process who enjoy surfing as well?

I want to learn to surf, and am unsure which beach to go to. There are many surf schools on different beaches, and I want to choose one which is suitable for beginners.

I like Manly Beach in Sydney, but its swell heights are typically more than 2ft. What would be the highest swell that a beginner could still comfortably learn on?

I’ve surfed beach breaks, sandbars and points on waves up to 6-7 foot and I would like to try my hand on reefs. Does anyone have any recommendations where would be a good spot to learn? I still consider myself a beginner and made the transition to riding short late last year.
I’ve been surfing in Europe and most recently North Africa.

I was looking into getting a used surfboard, but I want to pick out my own traction pad. Am I able to get the guys at the surf shop to take off the old one and put on a new one?

I’m looking to take up surfing lessons and live in Mountain View CA. I know there are surf schools in both Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay so just wondering which would be the better one to try. They’re both approximately the same distance from my house.
